Michael has a prestigious athletic background that includes college track & field where he won NCAA’s New England Division III decathlon. He was accustomed to performing workouts that required high proficiency and discipline. “I started doing CrossFit style training at a commercial gym while still on active duty in the Coast Guard. When I retired in 2014, I moved to Southern California and began working out as an athlete at Chalkline.”

When Chalkline was on the lookout for a new coach, Michael threw his hat in the ring. “I decided I needed a new challenge. I attended the CrossFit Level 1 seminar and started coaching in August of 2015.” Michael continues to dedicate his time to perfecting his own technique and sharing his knowledge with our Members.

Emily is the owner and head coach of Chalkline CrossFit. She’s also a walking example of what we stand for. “I was a late bloomer and didn’t get into fitness until my mid-30s. My personal struggle with weight loss is what led me to become a personal trainer... I figured if I could do this, anyone could and I should help!” Roughly seven years later, Emily discovered CrossFit and never looked back. “I jumped in with both feet and have loved every moment since! Getting in shape changed my mindset and lifestyle, CrossFit changed my life”

Emily’s passion is helping people improve their health and transform their lives. She believes that mindset is one of the biggest factors and uses it to help her members transform. “So much of fitness and nutrition is a mental game. We listen to what people truly need and develop a successful plan of action that is personal to them.”

Stephanie Hong

Stephanie Hong

Physical Therapist

Stephanie Hong is a licensed physical therapist, sports certified specialist, and certified athletic trainer. She received a BS in Athletic Training from California State University Northridge in 2009. Immediately following, she continued her studies and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Southern California in 2012. Following her strong passion for sports, she pursued additional studies and received her SCS (Sports Certified Specialty) through USC’s Sports Residency program in 2013. During that time is when she began her journey in athletics for the next four and a half years, working in the USC Athletic Department with the football, swimming & diving, track & field, and lacrosse teams.

Stephanie is passionate about using her expertise and knowledge of sports injuries, movement dysfunctions, and injury prevention to help people recover from injury, restore function, return to activities that are meaningful to them, and realize their potential.

During her pursuit for a career in physical therapy and athletic training, Stephanie had the privilege of working with elite athletes through internships with the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks and USA Men’s Volleyball. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, California Physical Therapy Association, and the National Athletic Trainers Association.

Outside of work, Stephanie loves to play and watch sports, engage in outdoor activities such as camping and hiking, and listen to country music.

We are fortunate to have Stephanie practicing here at Chalkline and to make her services available to our members, keeping them healthy and functional for life!
