Aw... the Holidays!
Depending on your situation or frame of reference, the idea of the Holidays can either instill dread and terror or sheer joy. Now is the time of year when you hear the words "stress", "weight gain", "resolutions" and an overall theme of "surviving the holidays".
At Chalkline, we have a strong focus on Mindset and Mindfulness... your mindset (or focus) shapes your thoughts, your thoughts shape words, your words shape your experience and your experience shapes your existence. With that in mind, if you are going into a season that is supposed to be about celebration, gratitude, time spent with loved ones, helping others and just plain JOY with a mindset of "survival", how is that shaping your experience?
What if... what if we could shift the messages we hear and see from the idea of surviving to that of THRIVING!? What if instead of how not to gain weight, you could focus on eating foods that nourish your body and give you the energy you need for all your celebrations? What if we shifted the mentality of "just get through it" to one of choosing to have a wonderful and positive experience no matter what happens? What if instead of riddling ourselves with guilt and self deprecation for "overdoing it", we chose to be thankful we can savor those moments then make different choices the very next day?
So this Holiday season, I urge you to flip that mindset and reject the idea of just surviving...
